Allow me to introduce myself…

My name is Mark Anderson and I’m a registered holistic nutritionist (RHN) practicing in Vancouver and Langley.

I have a diploma in holistic nutrition from the Canadian School of Natural Nutrition as well as a couple of Masters degrees in unrelated fields. It was looking for alternative solutions to my own health issues that first took me down this path and prompted my career change from education to nutrition.

I love doing what I do. For starters, I love good food.

Greek & Mexican food, Indian and Thai curries, pizza (one of my sins), vegetarian food, barbequed salmon and normal stuff like roast beef and potatoes. Recently in San Francisco my wife and I were blown away by how delicious “live” vegan food can be. Now our kids are really starting to fear for our sanity!

I love learning how diet affects health too and—with so much conflicting info on what to eat and not eat—helping clients find their way nutritionally. If you’ve ever found a nutritional solution to a chronic health problem like obesity, migraines or gastric reflux, you’ll know how grateful people are when they see the immovable in their lives give way. I love playing a part in that.

On the personal side, I love music, writing, hiking and spending time with my family. I’m happily married and have 4 fantastic kids, ranging from age 16 to 22. I belong to a very encouraging faith community, have a real concern for the environment and over the past few years have become something of a peacenik as well.

So the joy of good, healthy food, having a sustainable and balanced lifestyle, family, spirituality, justice for the poor and—yeah—world peace are all things I care deeply about. My biggest problem is not having enough lives. I'd totally love to give myself to erasing Africa's debt. Maybe in another life. For now, I’m just happy to be alive and well and doing what I do.
